Having an initial investment of over £½m on buildings, machinery and production equipment, the company began trading from their premises in Fountain Road, Hull.
By September 2005 a further £¾m was invested on a brand new toughening facility and the workforce increased to circa 25 people.
Further investment in modern glass processing equipment allowed the company to shape, drill, grind and polish various glass types and thicknesses, producing a range of glass shelving, mirrors, balustrades and fully assembled U.V. Bonded Glass Display Cabinets.
In 2013 the company purchased an additional 24,000 sq ft building on Wincolmlee, close to its existing site. These new premises have become the Company’s Head Office, accommodating its Administrative Activities, along with its Double Glazed Unit Line and an additional Toughening Plant in the form of the Glaston FC500. The move allowed the original Fountain Road site to become an operation completely dedicated to processing, including its Laminating and Heat Soaking facilities and purpose built Paint Booth. It also created a number of job opportunities, as the workforce increased to 60+.
This continued investment has enabled the company to increase its products range, providing its customers with glass products which are fully manufactured in house, where it can ensure that quality standards are maintained and delivery expectations are met.
The directors of KwikTuf are delighted with the progress the company has made so far and believe that all staff have played a big part in helping the company build a reputation for being an efficient supplier of quality products, on time in full!
With this in mind the Company embarked on a new phase in its future in May 2024, when it transferred to an Employee Owned Business, for the benefit of all current and future employees, which was at around 130 members mid 2024.
The aim of the business is to continue to provide a service and support to any manufacturer with a need for a comprehensive range of glass products. This will be achieved with continued investment in the latest technology and the development of products and staff.
